I saw a question here under 2020 chem. past question, pg 2; what is the oxidation state of chlorine in potassium chlorate: a.+1, b.+2, c.+3, d.+5, e.+7 were the options, the answer chosen was d. While from own understanding of redox reactions i think its a. but, there is no explanation. Please can anybody clear my doubt.?
