The vertex of an angle is the point where two rays begin or meet, where two line segments join or meet, where two lines intersect (cross), or any appropriate combination of rays, segments and lines that result in two straight "sides" meeting at one place.

This type of rays are called convergent ray because they meet at a point. The opposite of this is divergent rays which spread out from a common source.

An angle is the union of two rays with a common endpoint. The common endpoint of the rays is called the vertex of the angle, and the rays themselves are called the sides of the angle. There are many notations for angles.
