History is not a science.
History cannot use the conventional scientific method, but that may be too narrow a definition. There are areas of the sciences where the scientific method also has to be modified due to epistemological limitations. For example, sticking to that strict standard would imply that evolutionary biology is of questionable scientific status—which I would argue is absurd.
