The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has condemned the brutal murder of a final-year student of the institution, Desmond Rukevwe Emuobonuvie aka Mayor by suspected cultists on Monday, April 3.

The student was said to have been shot three times in the face in what appeared like a cult-related incident in his hostel at the university campus. Read here

Commiserating with the family and colleagues of the late student, the University in a statement released by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, enjoined other students to be calm as the Police, as well as other Security Agencies, are working hard to fish out and arrest the culprit.

It added that the school management was also working closely with the internal security units in ensuring that such a dastardly incident never occurs again within the University’s premises.
