The Management of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, has issued an official press statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the disruption of the ongoing First Semester Examinations on Monday, May 11, 2026.

According to the statement signed by the Registrar, Dr. Gabriel O. Egbe, the disruption occurred when a group of students protested against the university’s long-standing “No Fee, No Examination” policy. The affected students were reportedly those who had not completed payment of their school fees but attempted to gain access to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre to participate in the examinations.

The university explained that during the protest, some students allegedly tried to force their way into the examination hall, leading to a temporary interruption of the examination process. In the process, three students reportedly fainted due to pressure and tension at the venue.

Management stated that the affected students were immediately taken to the University Medical Centre, where they received prompt treatment and were discharged within approximately twenty minutes. The institution further emphasized that all the students involved are currently in good health and have resumed their normal academic activities.

The university also dismissed what it described as misleading and exaggerated reports circulating on social media regarding the incident.

Emergency Management Decisions

Following the incident, the university management convened an emergency meeting to review the situation and make decisions aimed at maintaining order while accommodating students who were yet to fulfill their financial obligations.

The following resolutions were announced:

1. Temporary Suspension of Examinations: The First Semester Examinations have been suspended for one week to allow students additional time to pay their outstanding school fees. Management described this as the third concession granted on the issue.
2. New Examination Date: The rescheduled First Semester Examinations will now commence on Monday, May 18, 2026.
3. Reaffirmation of “No Fee, No Examination” Policy: The university reiterated that the policy remains fully in effect and applies to all students without exception. Only students who have completed payment of their school fees will be allowed to sit for examinations.
4. Required Documents for Examination Access: Eligible students are expected to present:
   • Evidence of school fee payment
   • Duly completed course registration slip
   • Valid means of identification
5. Regulation of Access to Examination Venues: Management stated that examinations will strictly follow the approved timetable and faculty-by-faculty schedule. Only students scheduled for examinations at a given time will be permitted around examination venues.
6. Strengthened Supervision: Heads of Departments have been directed to be physically present during examinations to ensure effective supervision and maintain peace and orderliness.

The university management stressed that the “No Fee, No Examination” policy is not intended to punish students but is necessary to ensure institutional stability, fairness, and the continued delivery of quality academic and entrepreneurial training.

Students were advised to remain law-abiding and make proper use of the additional grace period provided for fee payment. Parents, guardians, and members of the public were also urged to disregard unverified information circulating online and rely solely on official communication from the institution.

The management reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, academic excellence, and a conducive learning environment within the university community.
