The family of an SS 2 student of the Immaculate Conception College (CIC), in Enugu State, has accused Rev Fr. Hilary Mgbodile, a principal of the College of brutalizing their son, a 14-year-old student of the school for allegedly telling lies.

According to the sister of the victim who made the allegations, the assault occurred on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. The student was reportedly heading to the school canteen when he saw two boys running towards him. Apprehensive of the senior seminarians who always chased students, the victim joined the students to run, not knowing the boys were running from being punished by the school principal.

Eventually, they were summoned by the principal, where the victim explained that he wasn’t part of the duo. She further alleged that the other erring students also confirmed that the victim wasn't part of them. This infuriated the principal, who then ordered that the two culprits be released, and his aggression transferred to the victim for daring to lie that he wasn’t part of the deviant students.

She further alleged that the student was embarrassed and humiliated in the presence of the whole school, and asked to take off his shirt and hold a Pilar while he was being flogged mercilessly. Thereafter, he was given punishments with hard labor and also stopped from going on a break with the rest of the students.
