The University of Ilesa, Osun State, has implemented a strict dress code policy, directing staff to prevent improperly dressed students from attending lectures or accessing offices within the institution.

This directive was announced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, during the university's second matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session on Wednesday.

Prof. Asaolu underscored the institution's commitment to discipline and proper conduct, stressing that students must demonstrate both character and learning to receive their certificates. He warned that indecent dressing, such as revealing clothing, would not be tolerated as it could offend others.

"Staff members, both academic and non-academic, have been instructed to deny access to improperly dressed students," the Vice-Chancellor stated, adding that security personnel and the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance and Servicom had been empowered to enforce these regulations and apply sanctions where necessary.

The university also mandated students to display their identity cards visibly while on campus to avoid embarrassment at entry points.

Prof. Asaolu further cautioned students against engaging in cultism, harassment, bullying, or other forms of indiscipline, warning of severe consequences for offenders.

He urged students involved in outlawed groups to renounce their membership and seek rehabilitation, while advising those facing pressure to join unregistered or anti-social groups to report such incidents to the university's security unit or the Director of Student Affairs.
