As panelists from the National Universities Commission (NUC) came to the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) for accreditation exercise, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, charges them to be fair in their work and enjoy their time in Lafia.

Precisely 16 courses were affected by the exercise which will last for two days. 

The departments that came up for the accreditation exercise included Business Education, Special Education, Botany, Chemistry, Statistics, Science Laboratory Technology, Zoology, Economics, Geology, History, Medical Laboratory Science, Library and Information Science, Political Science, Sociology, Biochemistry and Microbiology. 

Abdul Rahman while welcoming the NUC teams to FULafia, expressed his happiness with the level of the University’s preparedness for the exercise and in the ability and readiness of the NUC teams members to do a thorough job.

The vice-chancellor reminded the members of their responsibility, saying: "We are all stakeholders in the system. Therefore, I employ to do the needful by carrying out your assignment thoroughly and diligently."

Abdul Rahman, who assumed office as the vice-chancellor in February, said that the University, on its part, would help the members discharge their functions creditably because the University believed in excellence.

He stated the readiness of the University to learn and take corrections from the panelists in the course of their assignment, adding: "We'll take all the useful suggestions of the panel in order to improve our institution."

Speaking on behalf of the members, Professor Abiodun Onilude, said that the exercise was a routine assignment arranged by the NUC to improve the standard of academic programmes in the nation's universities. 

Onilude said that going by what the vice-chancellor has said, the work of the panelists was simplified as "there is no doubt that arrangements have been made to make the exercise hitch-free."

The Registrar Dr. Abubakar Mamuda, represented by Barrister Ignatius Efiom, the Deputy Registrar of the Legal Unit, wished the panelists success in their work and safe journey back to their place of work.
