NOUN update on 300-level admission and acceptable certificates for Public Health Science

In the internal memo dated January 28, 2026, the department stated unequivocally that there is no provision for direct admission into 300 level for the programme, as per the senate-approved admission requirements. All Direct Entry admissions are designated for the 200 level.

However, the department outlined a concession for holders of specific Higher National Diplomas (HNDs). Individuals with recognized HNDs in Community Health (Community Health Officers), Environmental Health (Environmental Health Officers), or Public Health Nursing may apply for special consideration for 300-level admission.

Such applicants must channel their requests through the Office of the Vice-Chancellor or the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), submitting official academic transcripts and other relevant credentials. The department emphasized that consideration will be granted strictly to those who meet all necessary requirements.

The memorandum, signed by Samuel Azubuike, the Acting Head of Department, also issued a stern warning to desk officers regarding acceptable certificates. It stressed that admissions must be based solely on certificates from accredited institutions and programmes recognised by relevant government regulatory agencies.

Desk officers were advised to avoid registering students with "questionable or unaccredited certificates," warning that such students risk having their admission revoked during screening processes. The department encouraged officers to contact the Departmental Admissions Officer for clarification in cases of doubt.

This clarification aims to streamline the admission process and uphold the academic standards of the BSc Public Health Science programme at NOUN.
