The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) is organizing an essay competition to commemorate the 2024 World Maritime Day with the theme "Navigating the future: safety first!"

The 2024 World Maritime Day theme "Navigating the future: safety first!" reflects IMO's work to enhance maritime safety and security, in tandem with the protection of the marine environment, whilst ensuring its regulatory development process safely anticipates the fast pace of technological change and innovation.

• The topic is "Navigating the future: safety first!" in the line with the theme of the 2024 World Maritime Day

GUIDELINES

This Special Category is open to students of Maritime Tertiary Institutions & Institutions with Maritime Departments

Participants are required to scan bona fide proof of studentship alongside their essays. Proof should include letters of admission and identity cards of the institution.

Essays should be sent to both wmdessay@nimasa.gov.ng and mail@samuelson.com.ng

Essays should be maximum of 1200 words (+or-10%) double spaced in MS word and font size 12 Plagiarism and the use of Al will not be accepted.

Essays should end with a name, telephone number and email address of the participant.

Essays that do not follow the guidelines will be disqualified

. Only successful participants will be contacted.

Prizes & Awards

• 1st: N500.000 Education Grant plus a laptop & a plaque + Publication of the winning essay in NIMASA's magazine.The VOYAGE & the NIMASA website
• 2nd: N350,000 Education Grant plus a laptop & a plaque
• 3rd: N250,000 Education Grant plus a laptop & a plaque
• 7 Consolation Awards of N100.000
• Education Grant each & a plague

Deadline: Friday. September 13, 2024

Essays submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Presentation of Prizes & Awards

Winners will be notified as soon as scoring is completed Prizes and Awards will be presented at a date to be announced.
