According to the information released by the institution, the available academic programmes include:

Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos Admission, 2025/2026

A. REGULAR PROGRAMMES:
1. National Diploma (ND)  

- Requirements: 5 O’Level credit passes (including English Language, Literature in English, and Mathematics) in not more than two sittings.

- Candidates must also sit for and pass the UTME.

2. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Journalism and Media Studies, Strategic Communication and Media Studies  

- Requirements: Same as ND, plus a National Diploma in Mass Communication with at least a Lower Credit and one-year post-ND industrial attachment.

3. Postgraduate Diploma in Print Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, and Public Relations/Advertising  

- Requirements: A good HND or university degree in any discipline.

B. SHORT TERM PROGRAMMES:
1. Proficiency Certificate in Photojournalism (Weekends only)  

- Category A: Practising photojournalists  

- Category B: Amateur photographers  

- Duration: 4 months

2. Basic Photography Training

- Available for beginners in photography.

3. Proficiency Certificate in Photography (Weekends only)

4. Proficiency Certificate in Writing and Communication (Saturdays only)  

- Duration: 4 months

Additionally, training workshops on communication and related fields are organized regularly by the institution.
