As Nigeria marks another year of independence, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council, Ondo Axis, is extending an invitation to students across the region to engage in a thoughtful exploration of the nation’s journey.
Essay Topic and Purpose

The essay topic for this year’s Independence Day commemoration is: "Nigeria at the Crossroads: How Foreign Policy Can Drive or Derail National Growth Since Independence"
This theme invites students to critically examine the role of Nigeria’s foreign policy decisions over the decades and how these choices have influenced the country’s economic, political, and social trajectory.
Participants are encouraged to delve into historical milestones, analyze current diplomatic strategies, and propose forward-thinking solutions that could shape Nigeria’s future on the global stage.
Prizes and Recognition
To recognize and reward outstanding contributions, NANS Ondo Axis has announced the following prizes:
- First Prize – ₦50,000
- Second Prize – ₦30,000
- Third Prize – ₦20,000
Submission Guidelines and Deadline
Essays must be submitted via email to nansondojccaxis@gmail.com no later than September 30th at 11:59 PM. Submissions should be clear, concise, and demonstrate a strong grasp of Nigeria’s foreign policy landscape and its implications for national development.
