LASU has postponed the inauguration of student union executives, detail as follows :

The inauguration of newly elected student union executives has being postponed by the school authority.

Reports getting to us was that LASU had on January 20 conducted an e-voting poll for its students’ union.
This was a result of the three-week closure of the institution following a violent student protest on January 23 over an increase in their fees.
Prof. Kabir Akinyemi, Dean of Students Affairs, told NAN that the protest affected the inauguration of the executive council.

“The inauguration can only be done when academic activities have been fully restored,” Kabir Akinyemi said.
He said, “We cannot allow the elected students for the executive seats of the union to gain entrance into the campus because they are not final year students.
“For now school has not re-opened for their batch.
“The management will only consider the inauguration when the final batch resumes for security purposes.”

He also asked the past executives of the union, who would soon graduate, to attend the handing over ceremony.
Akinyemi also urged students to stay away from trouble to enjoy a hitch-free academic session.
NAN also reports that LASU re-opened for its final year students on February 24 to enable them to commence their final examinations.

The 2013/2014 newly-admitted students had also been directed to resume on March 10, while the returning students will resume on April 1. (NAN)
