No fewer than 27 private schools in Lagos state have been fined  N13.5 million by the State Government as part of punishments for aiding and abetting examination malpractices during the conduct of the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).

This was contained in a statement signed by the spokesman of the Office of the Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Ministry of Education, Emmanuel Olaniran, on Monday, June 7. Each of the affected schools is to pay N500,000.

According to the statement, the schools were found wanting following the reports of an investigative panel led by the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, which indicted the concerned private secondary schools.

The statement noted that the move are part of corrective measures meant to serve as a deterrence to offenders, adding that defiant offenders can have their operation licenses totally withdrawn and school deregistered.
