On Monday, December 2, 2024, Dr. Umar Muhammed, the state commandant of the NSCDC, informed journalists that Fauziyah was found wandering naked by residents of the Ajegunle-Isale community along Egbejila Road in Ilorin.

The commandant explained that the victim was disoriented and incoherent, likely due to the traumatic experiences she endured while in captivity.

“She was discovered wandering in the Egbejila area in Ilorin, and concerned neighbors alerted the community leaders, who quickly handed her over to the NSCDC,” he said.

“Upon receiving the victim, we began an investigation and confirmed that she had been abducted in Kogi State but had somehow ended up stranded in Ilorin.”

He added that the NSCDC had provided her with clothing and informed the governor about her ordeal.

Fauziyah has since been reunited with her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who expressed his gratitude for the NSCDC's prompt response.

In an interview with journalists, Fauziyah revealed that she couldn’t remember how she ended up in Kwara State. “One of the books I was carrying dropped, and as I bent down to pick it up, I lost consciousness,” she said.
