The Governing Council of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, hereby announces that the positions of University Librarian and Chief Security Officer of the University will be vacant by 28th February, 2026. Suitably qualified and interested individuals are invited to apply for the positions.

1) UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
A.The Job:
The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the provision of Library services in the University and its constituent Departments/Units. 

B. Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates applying for the position of the University Librarian must possess the following:

• PhD in Library Science or in Library and Information Science.
• Considerable academic publications, with at least fifteen (15) years relevant working experience in a Tertiary Institution, preferably in a recognized University. Candidates must not be below the rank of Deputy Librarian/Reader.
• He/She must be a registered member of the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
• Candidates must have good computer skills.

C. Condition of Service:

The appointment for the post of University Librarian will be for a single term of five (5) years only. The remuneration and condition of service are as applicable to the post of University Librarian in Nigerian Public Universities and as may be determined by the Council and the Government from time to time.

Note: Candidate shall not be more than 60 years at the time of application.

2) CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER (CSO)

A.The Job:

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the provision of Security services in the University and its constituent Departments/Units.

B. Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates applying for the position of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) must posses the following:

A good first degree not below second class Lower Division with at least 18 (eighteen) years’ cognate post qualification experience in security related job.

A good HND not below lower credit from a recognized institution with at least 18 (eighteen) years’ cognate post qualification experience in security related job.

A Military or Police Officer not below the rank of Major or Deputy Superintendent of Police or its equivalent rank in the Paramilitary with at least 15 years’ experience in security related job.

A Police Officer not below the rank of Superintendent of Police or its equivalent rank in the Paramilitary with at least 12 years’ experience in security related job.

Be a responsible individual with a proven record of integrity, discipline and physical fitness. Experience in security coverage of a tertiary institution will be an added advantage.

C. Conditions of Service:  

The appointment for the post of Chief Security Officer (CSO) will be for a single term of five (5) years only. The remuneration and condition of service are as applicable to the post of Chief Security Officer in Nigerian Public Universities and as may be determined by the Council and the Government from time to time.
