Resource Verification exercise for additional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai continue to receive accolades by the second batch of teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for meeting with its Benchmarked Minimum Academic Standard (BMAS).

Addressing the Management during the exit briefing session by the Chairman of the team that assessed the proposed M. Sc programme in Accounting, Professor Israel Omesi lauded the efforts of the University Management for providing necessary facilities and require human capital for the smooth take-off of the programme in the University.

Other Team Leaders also expressed satisfaction with the conducive learning environment and quality of Faculty members that would facilitate the sound commencement of all programmes being proposed to be mounted.

They also applauded the positive correlation between the policies of the immediate past administration and the current leadership in the University; stressing that the spirit of commitment to duty demonstrated by members of staff was impressive.

They, however, advised the Management to look into some observations made by respective teams on each programme to make them more attractive and competitive. The Team Leaders further expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded them through out the exercise. 

Postgraduate programmes inspected during the second batch of the resource verification exercise include, M.Sc. Accounting, M.Sc. Business Administration, M.Sc Economics, M.Sc. Public Administration, M.Sc. Chemistry, M. A. and Ph.D History and International Studies.

The Undergraduate programmes were B.Sc. Actuarial Science and Pensions and B.Sc. Biotechnology. In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu expressed appreciation for the fair and objective assessment of the programmes by various NUC teams.

He said the exercise would undoubtedly help the University to bolster its facilities to the minimum academic standard of NUC so as to produce graduates that could favourably compete with their colleagues every where in the world.

Professor Adamu assured that the Management would certainly consider recommendations made by each team with a view to adopting them for implementation. The Registrar, Alhaji Musa Ango Abdullahi, in his vote thanks expressed appreciation for the positive spirit which the exercise was carried out by the NUC teams.

He reaffirmed that all suggestions made by the NUC teams on every programme would be looked into in no distant time by the Management, so as to ensure that quality is not compromised. The teams were earlier received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu who assured them of the management's maximum co-operation during the exercise.
