The Management of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) has elected Mr Ami Victor Ugochukwu, a 100-level student of Political Science as IAUE student of the year 2020.

The student won the title after he picked and returned a smartphone worth thousands of naira to the owner. What is special about this is that he (Ugochukwu) has no phone - not even a "torchlight" phone.

The Management of the institution commended this rare conduct of the student, even as the Vice-Chancellor reiterated that IAUE celebrates excellence.

The award attracts the following from the University:

1. A certificate of honour

2. Four years comprehensive scholarship - covering school fees and little for his upkeep while in school

3. A Cheque from the University to refund him his year one fee already paid

4. His photograph will be displayed on the University's Electronic Billboard of Excellence for 6 months

Mr Ugochukwu has also received numerous gifts and pledges from some individuals who learnt about this rare conduct.
