Professor Oyewole disclosed this achievement even as he pleaded with members of the University community to bear with the Management, on the inconveniences arising from the ongoing reconstruction of Camp-Alabata Road.

Speaking at a luncheon, penultimate Friday, held in appreciation of Students’ Leaders at the University’s International Scholars’ and Resource Centre, the Vice-Chancellor identified low bandwidth, which he put at 5 mbps as the bane of functional Internet services on campus.

He stated that as part of measures to alleviate the challenges, his administration had increased the bandwidth from five to 50 adding that the measure will improve access to Internet facility on campus.

According to him, “I will tell you that when we came in, we felt the need to improve on internet service on campus. The problem is that the bandwidth was as low as 5 mbps.

Just last week we increased it to 50mbps. What that means is that access to the Internet is now higher”, he added.

Professor Oyewole assured members of the University community that he would not relent in his efforts to increase the bandwidth to a satisfactory level that will enhance service delivery on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor also appealed to staff and students to further bear with the Management on the inconveniences being experienced as a result of the ongoing rehabilitation of Camp-Alabata Road.

His words: “The road under construction is a Federal Government road and we really appreciate this project. The Federal Government just started it and when construction is on, there will be inconveniences. I want to appeal to members of the University community to please bear with us”.
