This topic invites participants to explore a range of critical issues such as:

- Gaps in legal frameworks governing maritime arbitration

- Comparison with international practices and standards

- Case studies highlighting arbitration disputes and resolutions

- Suggestions for policy reform, training, or institutional development

Students are encouraged to showcase original analysis, present realistic and innovative solutions, and draw on local and international contexts to support their arguments.

Eligibility

The competition is open exclusively to undergraduate law students enrolled in Nigerian universities

Submission Guidelines

Interested candidates must adhere to the following requirements:

- Document Style: Times New Roman, font size 12, double spacing

- Word Count: Maximum of 3,000 words (excluding footnotes and references)

- Referencing Style: Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA)

- First Page Details: Include the essay title, full name, email address, contact number, and total word count

- Originality: Essays must be the original work of the participant with no plagiarism or co-authorship

- Format: Essays should be submitted in Microsoft Word format as an email attachment to info@foundationchambers.com

Prizes

Winners will receive prestigious awards designed to foster academic and professional growth:

- First Prize: ₦250,000, an internship opportunity, a complimentary book on maritime law, and publication of the winning essay

- Second Prize: ₦150,000, internship opportunity, and complimentary book

- Third Prize: ₦100,000 and complimentary book

Deadline

All entries must be received on or before 15th September 2025. Late submissions will not be considered, and participants are advised to proofread carefully before sending.
