The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced the holiday on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The government congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and abroad, urging them to emulate the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion. Nigerians of all faiths were also encouraged to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.
