The federal executive council (FEC), today, Wednesday, February 3, granted approval for the establishment of 20 private universities in the country. 

The approval came after the federal ministry of education sent a memo for the establishment of the universities to the federal government.  
 

The 20 new universities will be given provisional licenses to operate for a period of 3-years under the supervision of the ministry, after which an evaluation will be carried out to monitor its progress.
