The president, Eastern Nigeria Union Mission (ENUM), Pastor Udoh has said the proposed Clifford University would soon commence academic activities at its Ihie Isiala Ngwa North Local Government campus.

Udoh, at a briefing at the ENUM secretariat, Osisioma, described the school as a gift the church was offering to Abia community and Nigerians as a whole.

He expressed the hope that the presence of the school in the state would open up opportunities for Abia indigenes who are seeking admission into higher institutions.

While thanking the Governor Theodore Orji for releasing the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to the institution, Udoh hoped that the document would help to speed up completion of projects on the site.

He further added that efforts were being made to kick start academic activities soon.

Udoh said the school would be open to students from various religious faiths as long as they meet the requisite Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) requirements, adding that the church treasures the mental and educational development of the Nigerian child.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Chimezie Omeonu said they would only give admission to courses that have been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and promised to ensure that the school maintained a high educational standard.

Omeonu said the school was not for commerce, but to support education. He thanked the Abia State Governor for partnering the school authority in making the project a reality.
