Caritas Nigeria, also known as the Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), has been instrumental in humanitarian service delivery, advocacy, and development initiatives since its inception.

To commemorate its 15th anniversary, Caritas Nigeria has announced an essay competition aimed at promoting humanitarian values and social justice among young Nigerians. 

Essay Theme

The chosen topic, “How can Young People in Nigeria be Inspired to Create a Culture/Lifestyle of Humanitarianism and be Champions of Social Justice?”, calls on young Nigerians to reflect deeply on the challenges and opportunities facing their generation. Entrants are encouraged to consider:

- How to foster empathy, inclusion, and equity in their communities

- Ways to promote volunteerism, charitable acts, and grassroots activism

- The role of youth in shaping sustainable development and policy reform

Essays should propose creative, actionable ideas that can influence behavior, strengthen civic responsibility, and inspire peers to take the lead in humanitarian efforts.

Eligibility and Awards

The competition is open to all senior secondary school students across Nigeria. Caritas Nigeria will recognize the top three entries with the following awards:

- First Prize: ₦300,000

- Second Prize: ₦200,000

- Third Prize: ₦100,000

Submission Guidelines

Participants are required to submit a 350-word original essay via email to: CN15thAnniversaryEssays@ccfng.org by 5th September 2025. Essays must be unpublished and free from plagiarism. Submissions should also include the student's name, and the phone number of their parent or guardian, along with contact information for the school principal or vice principal.

All winners will be celebrated during the Caritas Nigeria @15 Celebrations on 25th September 2025, where their work may also be publicly featured, giving them national visibility and a platform for future engagement..
