The authority of Auchi Polytechnic has expelled former Students Union (SUG) President Mr Samson Okoduwa and two other members of the union from the institution over misconduct.

The acting Rector, Dr Sanusi Jimah, said this in a statement signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Oshiobugie, adding that the former SUG president, a former Secretary General, Obukowho Favour Oghenerume and a former SUG Speaker, Unuareleokpa Patrick went about parading as union officials despite knowing that the institution’s authority had banned union activities during the examination period.

He said the expelled students also led hoodlums to disrupt the first paper of the second semester examinations and refused to hand over union property in their possession.

The polytechnic had in October proscribed the union, following what it described as the alleged threat by the erstwhile executive members of the students body to disrupt its second semester examination in protest over the postponement of the SUG elections by the school.

The institution, in the statement, accused the affected students of allegedly parading themselves as union officials during the examination, in spite of the ban.

It alleged that the students led some hoodlums to disrupt the first paper of the second semester examination and refuse to hand over the property of the union that was in their possession.

The management of the polytechnic also alleged that the expelled students engaged in a series of activities that had brought disrepute to the institution.

While warning against acts of indiscipline and lawlessness among students, it gave the assurance that such acts would be curbed under the watch of the acting rector.
