At least, 200
students and a
Lecturer of the
Ekiti State
University, Ado Ekiti are currently
being tried by the
Senate Committee
on Examination
misconduct, and
risk being expelled from the
institution if found
guilty by the
committee of
being responsible
for some stolen question papers in
the school.

Another 10
members of staff
were arrested by
the institution’s security personnel
for selling fake
examination
clearance
certificate, known
as ‘Green Card’ to students.

This was disclosed
in a statement
signed by the
Assistant
Registrar, Information, Mr. Olubunmi Ajibade,
in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

The affected
students and the lecturer were
accused of
stealing question
papers and writing
examinations
inside a TV viewing centre outside the
campus, during the
second semester
of the 2010/2011
session.

Mr Ajibade said the offence, may see
those found guilty
either rusticated
or expelled from
the university.
He noted in the statement that
the suspects
involved in the
sale of fake
examination
clearance certificates were
members of both
academic and non-
academic staff.

DailyPost gathered that they were caught
selling the exam
permit to students
at N3,000 each.
The school
authorities introduced the
permit to stop
students who
were indebted to
the institution
from writing the second semester
examination. But
the indicted
officials allegedly
circumvented the
rules and helped themselves to
make quick money
by selling the
certificates.
Confirming the
development, EKSU’s
spokesperson, Mr
Victor Babayemi,
said 20 students
were caught
buying the fake exam clearance
certificates from
the officials.
