This video lesson provides a detailed explanation of syllable. Syllables are the smallest unit of language that can be pronounced. In the actual speech process, a speaker puts speech sounds together to form syllable. The vowel sounds are the most prominent part of a syllable structure, however, there is an exception thus, the concept of syllabic consonants emerges. This video explains syllabic consonants as consonant sounds which perform a special function. They combine with other consonant sounds to form a syllable without a vowel sound in between.
