Kinds Of Poetry (Narrative, Lyric, Ode, Epic, etc.)
Poetry exists in many different forms, each with its own structure, purpose and style. In this lesson, you'll explore the major kinds of poetry commonly tested in WAEC, NECO, JAMB and other secondary school Literature examinations. The lesson begins with a brief recap of what poetry is before introducing the broad categories of poetry and the different poetic forms that fall under each category.

3. Narrative Poetry - Epic, Ballad, Lay, Mock-Heroic Poetry
4. Lyric Poetry - Ode, Panegyric, Elegy, Dirge, Monody, Song-Lyric, Pastoral Poetry, Idyll
5. Structured Forms - Sonnet, Blank Verse, Free Verse, Villanelle, Limerick, Haiku, Roundel
6. Short Forms - Epigram, Epitaph, Acrostic
Then we'll attempt some JAMB and WAEC past questions to solidify our understanding of the concepts discussed so far.
