yes cos d capaicitance of a capacitor increases with an increase in presence of a dialectric subtance(retangular glass block).

the answer is correct because the material serve as a dielectric insulator which increases capacitance..

u can also say there is a decrease in capacitance when there is an increase in distance and decrease in Area and permittivity also known as dielectric constant

The question says when distance abd cross sectional area are kept constant

The answer is D, area and distance of separation are constant.

The answer should be D. The quantities that vary with capacitance are cross sectional area, permittivity of free space and distance between the plates. In this case, none of them are adjusted. So its D.

And remember, a dielectric substance is a substance that is a poor conductor of electricity, i.e, both glass, air/vacuum, ceramics, )take note that in this case, the glass was used to replace the air/vacuum present, so it really doesnt change anything).

In essence, the capacitance will remain constant.. Option D is the right answer!!

NB: The capacitance will only increase if the plates were connected to a battery and hence charged. In this case, they weren’t!.
