An eclipse (total or annular) requires the Sun, Moon, and Earth to line up in a straight line, that’s called 𝘀𝘆𝘇𝘆𝗴𝘆.

Now, if the Moon is too far away (smaller in apparent size), you get an 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀𝗲, not a total one.

Option D could be tempting 😈 but know that's a lunar eclipse, not an annular eclipse.
