Projectile motion is a two-dimensional motion.
A projectile is an object launched into the air and allowed to move freely due to gravity.
The range of a projectile is independent of the acceleration due to gravity.

Please, no matter what, the range does not depend on acceleration due to gravity. It depends solely on the initial velocity and angle of projection. It can also be distorted by air resistance. The actual formula for range is
R = Uxcos theta
Ux is the initial horizontal velocity.
the formula you cited is as a result of time. The tiem taken by the object to fall a vertical distance is same for the horizontal distance. Check the original question and correct any typo errors.
