The answer is D because water shows anomalous behaviour between 0°C and 4°C. Unlike every other liquid, it contracts(it's volume decreases) when heated from 0°C to 4°C. And since volume is inversely proportional to density, as the volume decreases, the density rises. But immediately after 4°C, it starts expanding(increase in volume) and consequently, the density decreases. Hence it is believed that water has its maximum density at 4° C

from anomalous expansion of water....below as the temperature drop the water molecules contract until from 4 degrees and below, the molecules of water move farther apart so that its volume increase...since density is inverse of volume the density begins to drop...thus in reverse the density increeases till the temperature of water is now 4⁰C where it begins to fall due to expansion.....
