Steel is simply Iron + Impurity(carbon). Due 2 presence of carbon,it is not easily demagnatised as opposed to Iron(without impurity)

iron can only make temporary magnets bcos its very easily magnetized & demagnetized,whereas steel may not be easily magnetized but it can retain magnetism longer.

Steel Unlike Iron is not easily magnetized as a result doesnt lose its magnetism readily. It retains it for long than Iron. Thanks A lot.
