Reading in scale = weight of the body-upthrust on the body when immersed in a fluid.

d=m/v

2.5=m/400

m=2.5x400=1000g

weight=mg =1000x10=10,000N

upthrust on the body is only acting on half the volume of the body

d=1(density of water )

g=10

v=200

upthrust, U=dgv

=1x10x200

=2000N.

reading in scale =10000-2000

=8000N.( This is the actual reading because spring balance measures weight and not mass)

but options are in grams

so W=mg

8000=mx10

m=800g..
