The diagram above illustrates trapped air in a syringe placed in water that is gradually heated. It is observed that the piston rises as the temperature of the water rises. Which of the following statements explains this observation?

a

frequency of collision of trapped air molecules with walls of the syringe is more

b

molecules of trapped air expands more

c

speed of the trapped air molecules decreases

d

The selected answer is wrong:

the diagram there shows that the pressure has been increased, that means the frequency of collision has increased, the diagram shows the effect of increase in temperature on pressure

the temp of the trapped air rises with the temp of the water. the frequency of collisions thus increases and since the piston is movable, it moves up for the volume of the trapped air to increase (gas expansion) in order for pressure to remain constant. this explains charles' law, in which V is directly proportional to T provided that P is constant.

How can increased frequency of collision lift up the load of the syringe????????????

The diagram explains Charles law
v is directly proportional to temperature
now as the temperature rises so does the volume of the trapped air and therefore it pushes up the load of the syringe 🌟🤝
