In order to reduce the eddy current loss, the resistance of the core should be increased. this is what we do when we say we are laminating the soft iron core, we are increasing its resistance.

According to New school physics, Eddy currents can be reduced by laminating the core or winding the coil on a soft iron core. Creating holes in the metal plates reduces energy loss by I2R
