From the diagram, the correct equation for the refractive index n of the medium is

a

n = tan i

b

n = \(\frac{sin i}{sin 90^o}\)

c

n = \(\frac{sin i}{cos (90^o - i)}\)

Option A is very correct

i+90+r = 180
r = 90-i
n = sin i/sin r
n = sin i/sin(90-i)

Since, sin(90-i) = cos i
n = sin i/cos I
n = tan I

Here is an explanation:

r=180-(90+i) r=90-i n=sin i/sin r n=sin i/sin(90-i) since sin(90-i)=cos I therefore n=sin i/cos I ans=tan i

The correct answer should be A which is Tan i. This is because 180- (90+I)=r
90-i=r, sin(90-i)=sinr
Cosi=sinr
N = sini/sinr
N = sini/Cosi
N = tani
