Reason for this answer: remember that like charges repel and unlike charges attract, just like a magnet, therefore, the negative charges on the rod will automatically push away the negative charges on the ball while simultaneously attracting the opposite charges-the positive ones. So the positive charges will be concentrated more on the side closest to the rod and the negative on the side farthest from the rod.
