the answer is acceleration, because when a body falls, its falls under the influence of acceleration due to gravity

when an objects vel is increasing with time its accelerating, when object falls its velocity increases with time. retarding talks about slowing down, objects dosent slow down when it falls. myschool should correct it.

The correct option is C
Retardation has to do with moving in a manner of negative acceleration and an object taking from a height is going along with acceleration
remember acceleration us a downward pull

when and object is falling it is said be travelling with a uniform retardartion not acceleration because the object is disobeying the law of gravity

When an object falls from above, it is retarding but when it is moving up, it is accelerating.
