The answer is Undisputably, A.
Beta particle adds 1 to the proton number, as such, Y= X +1. Therefore, with respect to X, we will have X= Y - 1. Thanks 👍

When a radioactive nuclide emits a β-particle (beta-minus decay, ), a neutron in the nucleus is converted into a proton. As a result:

The proton number increases by 1 (since a neutron becomes a proton).

The nucleon number (mass number) remains the same because a neutron is lost, but a proton is gained.

Thus, if the original nuclide has a proton number X, the new nuclide will have a proton number Y = X + 1.

The correct equation relating X and Y is:

Y = X + 1

So the answer given by myschool is Correct 💯

Hi
my school
pls the ans is A
we know from ur explanation that proton no increases
but the option u chose proton no is decreased cos Y is the final product of the decay and Y must be equal to X+1 .... and that is found in option A when reversed

A✅✅

Beta emission does not affect proton number so X=Y so option E is correct
