When an Ebonite rod is rubbed with fur, ebonite rod becomes negatively charged as it's acquired electrons from randomly placed electrons from fur while the fur cannot obtain electrons from the ebonite rod since electrons are packed together so it becomes deficient of electrons, hence positively charged.
