When an object is immersed in water, it displaces a volume of water equal to its own volume.
The volume of water displaced= upthrust

relative density= mass of substance/mass of equal volume of water

density of water=1000kg/m3
mass of equal volume of water= 50*10^-6 * 1000=0.05

Relative density= 0.425/0.05
=8.5

note= density and relative density are not the same. RD has no unit while density has a unit of kg^m3
Another name for relative density is specific gravity

density of water=1000kg/m3 or 1g/cm3. notice the units😏😉

R.d = mass of substance/
Mass of equal volume of water
R.d = 0.425/50x10^-6
R.d = 8.500
8.5 is for brass
