Two divers G and H are at depths 20m and 40m respectively below the water surface in a lake. The pressure on G is P1 while the pressure on H is P2. If the atmospheric pressure is equivalent to 10m of water, then the value of \( \frac{p_2}{p_1} \) is?

This is not correct at all.
Pressure increases with depth. At the surface of the water we have pressure as patm=10m
P1= Height of diver+10=20+10=30m
P2= 40+10=50m
P2/P1=50/30=1.67

The should be C.
pressure at H, p2 = 40+10m = 50m ;
pressure at G, p1 = 20+10m = 30m.
The ratio is 50÷30
=5/3 or 1.67

the correct answer is C. please correct it.
P1= H1 +10.....1
P2=H2+10......2
but H1=20, H2=40
P2/P1= 40+10/20+10=50/30=5/3=1.67
