A 1000kg elevator is descending vertically with an acceleration of 1.0ms-2, if the acceleration due to gravity is 10ms-2, the tension in the suspending cable is
1.0N
10.0N
9000.0N
11 000N

It is descending not ascending so you have to minus a from g
F=M(g - a)
F=1000(10 - 1)
F= 9000N

T=M(g-a)
M=1000kg
a=1m/s
g=10m/s
- sign due to descending
T=1000(10-1)
T=1000*9
T=9000N

wrong when moving downwards the body doesnt press down with more force
it should be g-a

Downward acceleration
T=mg-ma
g is greater than a
T=1000(10-1)
T=9000N @myschool
Pls make corrections

when moving down or descending you are under the influence of gravity in addition to your acceleration same thing as in a lift
that being said it should be M(g+a)= 11,000

Tension = W + F
W = mg
= 1000kg × 10m/s2
= 10000N
F = ma
= 1000 × 1
= 1000N
Tension = 10000N + 1000N
= 11000N
