pls with no offence i think it's distance not displacement we're asked to calculate so it's 13km.i think so

pls correct urself...you are to calculate the total distance move not displacement i.e 5+8=13km...i don't know maybe someone get my point...C

The answer is 13km. The difference between distance and displacement is that distance has no direction whereas displacement has. Whenever you are asked to calculate distance from the starting point, simply add all the distances together. But if you are asked to calculate the displacement, you have to include the direction, if not your answer is not complete. You can see from the options that none of the answers has direction attached to it. This shows that you are actually expected to calculate the distance which is done by ordinary scalar addition.
