When the Nigerian flag (green, white, green) is viewed in pure yellow light, the colors observed on the flag will be green, yellow, and green (Option A).

The observed colors are due to the way objects interact with light. When an object appears a certain color, it means it is reflecting that color of light and absorbing the others. In the case of the Nigerian flag:

The green stripes on the flag will still appear green because green is a component of yellow light. When yellow light shines on the green stripes, the green component is reflected, making the stripes appear green.
The white stripe will appear yellow because white reflects all colors of light. When yellow light is shone on the white stripe, it reflects the yellow light, making the stripe appear yellow.
Therefore, when the Nigerian flag is viewed under pure yellow light, the colors observed will be green, yellow, and green.

If the Nigerian flag (green, white, green) is viewed in pure yellow light:

Color Appearance:
1. *Green stripes*: Since green absorbs yellow light and doesn't reflect it well, the green stripes would appear *dark or black*.
2. *White stripe*: White reflects most colors, including yellow, so the white stripe would appear *yellow*.

Observed Colors:
The flag would appear as *dark (or black), yellow, dark (or black)*.

I think an important concept most of us are missing here is the word "viewed in pure light"

Meaning that we are not using the red+green= yellow combination but pure yellow light๐Ÿ’›

Meanwhile, a white light reflects all colours and in this case it's reflecting yellow.

Having known this concept,
When a green light is under pure yellow light
Since the light source doesn't contain the color just like @manpikin said the color would look black โšซ
So therefore, the set of colors observed on the flag would be Black,Yellow,Black.

Iโ€™m sure the correct answer is C. black, yellow, black.

1. Light and colors

Objects donโ€™t make their own color , they reflect certain parts of the light shining on them.

If the light source doesnโ€™t contain that color, the object canโ€™t reflect it , it looks dark/black.

explain pls

Letโ€™s break it down using colour reflection ๐ŸŒˆ
The Nigeria flag is:
Green โ€“ White โ€“ Green
Now it is viewed in pure yellow light.
Step 1: Understand Yellow Light
Pure yellow light contains red + green components.
Step 2: How colours behave in coloured light
Green surface โ†’ reflects only green light
White surface โ†’ reflects all colours
If a surface cannot reflect the colour shining on it โ†’ it looks black
Now apply it:
๐ŸŸข Green stripe
Yellow light (red + green) falls on it.
Green surface reflects only green โ†’ so it still looks green.
โšช White stripe
White reflects all colours.
Since only yellow light is shining on it, it reflects that yellow โ†’ it looks yellow.
๐ŸŸข Green stripe
Same as the first one โ†’ green.
โœ… Final Answer:
Green, Yellow, Green
โœ” Option A

yeah Myschool is right!!!

remember when you mix red + green you'll get yellow

so since the flag is green white green,at the green sides of the flag you'll still see green colour

imagine the flag was blue white blue,
at the blue sides of the flag you'll see only blue colours

normally if you view through the white part of the flag you be able to see only yellow
