Of the colors in the visible light spectrum, red and violet provide the widest separation. These two colors are at the opposite ends of the visible light spectrum, with red having the longest wavelength (around 700 nanometers) and violet having the shortest wavelength (around 400 nanometers). This means that when white light is split into its component colors through a prism, the red and violet bands of light will be the furthest apart.
