Total resistance at XY=1/(1/2+1/3)
= 1/(5/6)
= 6/5 or 1.2 Ohms
Total resistance= 1.2+0.8=2 Ohms
Value of Current flowing through circuit = 5/2 =2.5A
Potential difference across XY = 2.5×1.2
= 3V

To calculate the current in 3ohms resistor
remember the total internal resistance is 2
and resistor is 3 and in emf remember R+r R=3 and r=2 =3+2=5
also
note V=IR
5/5= 5i/5
I=1.0ampere
