All answers are wrong. The image distance of an object formed by a diverging lens can never be of higher magnitude than the object distance. A diverging lens never forms an image located behind the object. It is always formed inbetween the object and the lens. Since the image distance here is already 5cm, the 3.3cm as object distace is automatically ruled out already. The only logical answer left is the 10cm.
Doing the calculation, 1/f - 1/v = 1/u.
f= -10, v = -5
-1/10 - (-1/5) = 1/u
-1/10 + 1/5 = 1/u
1/10 = 1/u
u = 10cm

am doubtful of that answer cos the formula is wrong,1/U -1/V =1/F, the correct lens formula is this 1/U+1/V=1/F.
