If the frequency of the ac. circuit illustrated above is 500/π Hz what would be the reactance in the circuit? 

(Inductance (L) = 0.9H, Capacitance (C) = \(2 \times 10^{-6}\)

Actually the formula is correct however from:
Z for impedance=Xl -Xc where Xl is 2πfl=2×π×500÷π×0.9=900 n
Xc=1÷2πfC=2×π×500÷π×2×10-⁶=400
Z=900-500=400
